GNFZ’s Net Zero Certification Promises to Leave No Buildings Behind

Despite growing global concerns about climate change, companies still struggle to effectively achieve net zero emissions. That’s why my partner Sarah Merricks and I created the Global Network for Zero. GNFZ was founded on an urgent premise: Humanity is in immediate need of a realigned strategic approach to implementation of net zero solutions. We believe that decentralized climate action and incremental paths to decarbonization is the fastest way to scale up implementation across industry sectors.

Since the launch of GNFZ late last year, we’ve made some exciting momentum. And today, I am pleased to announce that GNFZ is unveiling the ultimate net zero platform: A simple but robust, decentralized platform that provides individuals, businesses and organizations with end-to-end support in accelerating progress towards hitting their net zero targets. Specifically, the platform allows network members to assess their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, helps them identify strategies and partnerships for reaching their goals and independently verifies and certifies their net zero achievements.

We’re also pleased to announce the first product on our platform, available now: a net zero certification for existing buildings. Buildings constitute a large percentage of many organizations’ emissions – so focusing on existing buildings is one of the best places to start when putting in place an effective corporate net zero strategy.

The buildings sector is one of the highest emitters, responsible for nearly 40% of all emissions. Decarbonizing buildings is one of our greatest opportunities to achieve critical societal and environmental goals and realize a zero emissions world.

Our certification is designed to eliminate the barriers to decarbonizing this sector has traditionally faced. With an incremental approach to certification that accounts for buildings or portfolios of any size, we’re making the path to zero accessible, efficient and scalable for all. Calculate your building’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, set your own targets, develop a plan, implement net zero strategies and receive independently verified third-party certification with multiple opportunities for recognition along the way. Network members have the flexibility to choose the standard, method or framework that works best for them, and can also expect a simplified process with support at every step.

The Global Network for Zero Difference:

  • Elimination of market barriers, allowing users to track progress in real-time with incremental roadmaps to net zero for buildings

  • End-to-end implementation support

  • Calculation and reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions

  • A baseline emissions assessment with quality data

  • Options to select preferred standard, method or framework

  • Implementation of net zero strategies based on a decentralized, shared system of best practices and user experiences

  • Nimble, outcome-based and low-cost certification process

  • More intuitive workflow and reduced documentation requirements

  • Storytelling and stakeholder messaging support

  • Multiple opportunities for recognition along the way to net zero certification

I am thrilled to unveil this platform and product at such a critical juncture in the race to zero. Since our founding, GNFZ’s team has worked diligently to develop a truly innovative platform, unlike anything else available. Our goal is to foster a decentralized community of inclusion, innovation and true transformation.

At the moment, we’re actively onboarding reviewers, partners and projects. Do you have net zero targets for your building or portfolio? Have you considered decarbonization but aren’t sure where to start? Do you provide net zero solutions to your clients and are interested in learning how you can add GNFZ’s net zero certification for buildings to your toolkit, or serve as a third-party reviewer? Find your place in the Global Network for Zero.

We can’t wait to help your company achieve net zero. Visit our platform to accelerate your net zero journey today.
