Net Zero Case Study: SRK House and SRK Empire

In May 2024, globally renowned natural diamond crafting company Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK) became the first company in the world to achieve GNFZ’s final net zero certification for existing buildings, for its two flagship crafting facilities SRK House and SRK Empire. Initially targeting 2030 to reach net zero, SRK joined forces with GNFZ to accelerate its target to 2024 — a trailblazing achievement toward emissions elimination.

Click through this presentation for a high-level overview of the project.

In this presentation, you’ll learn about tactics SRK used to reach various stages on the way to net zero. Some strategies they employed include:

  • Reducing Scope 1 emissions by upgrading their cooking process to improve efficiency and quality of food while maintaining ISO 22001 certification (food safety management system).

  • Reducing Scope 2 emissions by ensuring all energy consumed by both SRK Empire and SRK House was offset from the installed capacity of their off-site 6MW solar power plant.

  • Reducing Scope 3 emissions by creating an app to track daily commute modes and practices by employees, installing a solar-power electric vehicle charging station, and more.

In addition, we welcome you to access a one-pager overview of the project for your convenience.

The public declaration of the company’s intent to accelerate came during January 2024’s SRK Sustainability Conclave, a first-of-its kind gathering of business and climate leaders designed to showcase SRK’s six decades of impact in emergency relief operations, healthcare, education, community development, environmental preservation and more. During the conference, Founder and Chairman Shri Govind Dholakia unveiled SRK’s comprehensive roadmap for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reduction strategies, as well as the commissioning of SRK’s first Pure Impact Report, a detailed account of the company’s sixty year commitment to advancing ESG, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and a blueprint for decarbonizing operations.
