Global Network for Zero advisor María Fernanda Aguirre is an accomplished architect and highly recognized leader in the green building community with multiple professional accreditations in certification systems for sustainable buildings and infrastructure such 

as LEED, Fitwel, TRUE Zero Waste, Minergie and Edge. 

As the Executive Director of Chile Green Building Council, she is a trusted organizational and thought leader who has leveraged her expertise in sustainable construction and local, regional and national policy advocacy to build a robust market for multiple sustainability and health and wellness certification platforms and increased sustainability performance standards. 

María has is a sought-after expert on organizational sustainability, project management, life cycle assessment, the circular economy and climate change, and is multiplier for the B Certification System for sustainable companies. 

In addition to her leadership at Chile Green Building Council, she is a member of the Board of the World Green Building Council, having been vice chair and chair of the Americas Regional Network of the same organization for 4 years. She is also a Master's Professor at the Metropolitan Technological University, Member of the Sustainability Committee of the College of Architects of Chile and member of the Sufficiency, Materials, Roadmaps and Financing Hubs of UNEP’s GlobalABC.

María will be leveraging her broad skills to help advance net-zero existing buildings and new construction in the South American market.
