Lourdes “Lu” Salinas, LEED Fellow, has accumulated nearly twenty years of experience as a leading sustainability professional working at internationally recognized firms and projects in the United States, Australia, Southeast Asia and Mexico. As LEED AP since 2008 and holding and International Bachelor of Architecture degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey Lourdes has performed analysis, investigations and provided environmental consultancies in the building sector, encompassing a diverse range of projects including mixed-use buildings, stadiums, airports, hotels, offices, as well as cities and communities.
In 2010, Lourdes founded THREE Environmental Consulting based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. THREE specializes in technology-based environmental consulting and has been widely recognized for delivering some of the most iconic projects in the Latin American region, including the first LEED® Zero Energy project in Mexico, the first building certified worldwide as LEED Platinum® V4, the first two projects in Latin America to achieve LEED for Homes Platinum, the first LEED for Existing Communities certification in Latin America, the first LEED for Cities certification in Latin America, and the LEED certification of the tallest tower in Latin America. THREE is accredited in several internationally recognized rating systems including LEED, GNFZ, EDGE, WELL, Fitwel, NMX-164, GRI, Green Globes, Earthcheck, TRUE Zero Waste, Parksmart, and SITES.
Lourdes has been widely recognized by her industry peers as inspirational role model for sustainability professionals and has been honored with the Prize E-100 for Valuable Entrepreneurs. In 2019, she participated at U.N. developing commitments aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals for entrepreneurs. In 2019, Lourdes was awarded the LEED Fellow designation, the highest achievable for a LEED professional in the green building industry, in recognition for her outstanding contribution to the green building community.
Not one to rest on past accomplishments, Lourdes continues to make the case that the sustainability sector needs to strive for continuous improvement in how we address the ongoing impact that buildings contribute to our global climate crisis. In 2024, Lourdes and her firm delivered the first GNFZ net zero certified project in Mexico, North America and Latin America region.
