First GNFZ Certificates Achieved in Brazil
Brazil has been at the forefront of sustainable building innovation, which is why GNFZ partnered with OTEC, the country’s leading sustainability consulting firm, with an ambitious vision: Transforming the building sector and beyond through a comprehensive "zero to zero" approach, in which net zero becomes the new standard for all buildings, with green buildings leading the transition.
We are proud to share that, with the support of OTEC, LFRV Sociedade de Advogados is on track to achieve GNFZ’s Net Zero Operations certification in the Emissions category. David Douek, CEO of OTEC, presented LFRV with their Emissions Assessment and Net Zero Plan certificates at this week’s FEICON conference — making LFRV the first company in Brazil to receive a GNFZ certificate!
As part of this process, LFRV completed its first GHG Emissions Assessment from May 2024 to April 2025, and has set an emissions reduction target by 2030. As a tenant, LFRV faces unique constraints due to limited control over building infrastructure. The next steps for LFRV are to implement the strategies in their net zero plan, which will be tailored to help them address these constraints and more. With plans to enhance Scope 3 data granularity, commit to continuous improvement and aligning with Brazil’s national climate targets, and explore renewable energy procurement in future cycles, their plan centers around some of the following strategic action areas:
Energy conservation
Green commuting and remote work support
Sustainable procurement and digital documentation
Employee engagement and behavior change
Transparent reporting via the GNFZ platform
Once fully certified, LFRV’s achievement will mark another step forward in accelerating the adoption of net zero certifications and sustainable building practices across Brazil and Latin America.
