Avneet Gural, LEED Fellow, is widely regarded as a pioneer in the sustainability profession due to her trailblazing advocacy for net-zero strategies and sustainable, resilient communities. Avneet has successfully leveraged her 20 years of international experience to expand the definition of sustainability beyond traditional green building practices with a focus on regenerative environmental performance to meet the needs of rapidly expanding client and climate demands.
As a Senior Sustainability Strategist at Jacobs, Avneet is focused on the strategic integration of sustainability, resilience, and regenerative design solutions in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, for the Buildings Infrastructure Americas, East Region while also facilitating stakeholder engagement for Jacobs Plan Beyond 2.0.
Prior to joining Jacobs, Avneet was a Project Director at Sustainable Design Consulting in Washington, DC where she spearheaded the sustainability process for a portfolio of 18 Million+ square feet. Iconic projects under her leadership include The Wharf, a 74 acre Mixed-use development located in the Southwest Waterfront area of DC; the 28 acre Pittsburgh Penguins redevelopment project in downtown Pittsburgh, PA; numerous Higher Education and Secondary School facilities throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area including Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School which broke the record for sustainability, achieving Platinum with the highest point score across the globe at the time of its certification; and large scale Multi-family Residential and Commercial Office developments.
A deep believer in volunteer service and knowledge sharing, Avneet serves as Vice Chair of the LEED Fellow Evaluation Committee, has served as Chair of the USGBC NCR Market Leadership Advisory Board; was a SME for the IWBI Task Force for COVID 19; serves on the WELL Community Concept Advisory; was an SME for the development of LEED Neighborhood Development & WELL accreditation exams for the USGBC & the IWBI; and for development of various standards including WELL v2. In addition to being named a LEED Fellow, Avneet is also a member of the WELL Faculty, a Fitwel Ambassador, an Assoc. AIA and Fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects.
